About HR Round Tables

About HR Round Tables & its 10 year History

In order to work on the area of Leadership Development, we involved a Knowledge Partner, Aon Hewitt, who is one of the pioneers of HR Consulting in India and around the globe. Aon Hewitt has done pioneering work on the subject of leadership, including running the Top Company for leader’s researches in India. For the theme on Change & Transformation, we involved another Knowledge Partner Deloitte, the largest global consulting firm which has done tremendous research on global human capital trends.

The purpose of organising Leadership Round Tables under the theme ‘The Art and Science of Developing Leaders’ was to bring these stakeholders on a common ground, to collate their experiences, to share processes, to look at best practices, and to predict the future roadmap for leadership development in India for the coming decade.

After the research on Leadership, we started assenting in moulding some very critical issues in the midst of HR & Business Professionals and academicians of repute to deliberate and put forth their perspectives for the future, with Deloitte as our knowledge partner. During these years, we projected the Theme of Engaging the 21st Century Workforce, Leading the New Way for HR, The Forces of Global Change: Reinventing HR, Rewriting the Rules for the Digital Age: Reinventing HR, The Rise of the Social Enterprise, Leading the Social Enterprise: Reinvent with a Human Focus and Making HR effective in the Pandemic world.

We started these Round Tables by starting a debate on the theme. Over a period of time, a few crucial sub-themes were identified and deliberated. In order to enrich the deliberations and churning of knowledge and experience, we adopted a process of capturing of knowledge and experience by bringing in research on the subject, studies as well as cases. Business leaders as well as leaders responsible for developing leadership shared their rich experiences and point of view in the panel discussions. In these Round Tables, we also involved academicians, with experiences of leading Business Schools, who have taken conscious responsibility of building leaders for tomorrow. Above all, we brought in CEOs, Functional Heads and a particularly good number of HR Heads from both the old economy businesses, mostly involving brick and mortars as well as the new economy businesses, dominated by IT Services, Financial Services, Retail, etc. Consequently, we developed a blend of knowledge and experience coming from different fields of business, academics, and research, which may give a very comprehensive perspective. Considering gender diversity, we also kept in mind to elicit inputs, diverse experiences, and views involving a good number of women leaders, both from business as well as HR.

We also explored business environment or strategy building of the required organisational capabilities in terms of culture, competencies, process, and also diverse practices of management and HR that needed to examine the past, current as well as future requirements. We partnered with National HRD Network, People Matters, NDTV Profit, Zee Business, and Bloomberg TV for spreading this knowledge-sharing initiative with the mass.

The diverse set of around 150 leaders, appeared on our 37 panels in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Bhubaneswar, etc., brought in clarity, and since they belonged to diverse backgrounds, these experts brought in a holistic outlook to the topics.

Some of the very rich by-products of these HR Round Tables were its Annual Reports and its output through three very rich books “Manthan: Art & Science of Developing Leaders” (2017), “Return of the Surya: The ever Rising and Transforming Human Resource” (2019) and “The Bahrupian Challenge: Inventing the New HR” (2021), which are a welcome input for professionals.

This has been a very major contribution by BIMTECH, spending a lot of time and money for enriching learning and spreading it all over the country.

We request professionals to continue their love and support to this learning movement on its completing 10th Anniversary in October 2021 and join the celebration on 22 – 24 October 2021 celebrate this milestone!!
